Craiguillean

Craiguillean has the most glorious and secluded location on the water’s edge at the end of a half mile car-track. It looks west and north over to the island of Seil, and south to the islands of Luing, Shuna and Scarba. It has its own jetty and mooring so it’s a great place to have one of our hire boats or bring your kayak, and a great place to look out for sea eagles, the regular otters and visiting dolphins or even the occasional whale.

This traditional stone built single storey cottage was originally a ferryman’s cottage, but has been modernised and extended to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation for eight people.

There are steps leading up to the entrance porch and then steps again into a large open plan kitchen/dining room which forms the central part of the house. At the north end are two bedrooms, one twin and one bunk room with two sets of bunks, a bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower, and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer combined. At the south end are a double bedroom, with 5ft bed and ensuite bathroom with shower over bath and a large comfortable lounge with wood burning stove and windows looking both south and west.

The garden is enclosed, and from there you can explore the shoreline, nip up the hill at the back, or back towards the Castle and beyond.

Craiguillean is a magical place with endless opportunities to watch out for birds and wildlife. And the sunsets can be spectacular.
